Vacancy: Tutor, Principles of Nutrition module, part of the MSc in Nutrition Science and Practice.
Applications for this post are sought from nutritional therapists with experience in teaching and a strong research ethic. You will be joining a small team of Nutrition Science and Practice tutors and clinic supervisors in this small but highly-regarded private College. The College delivers the MSc course in Nutrition Science and Practice which has the principles of Functional Medicine embedded throughout the whole programme. It also offers an MSc in Chinese Herbal Medicine as well as BSc and MSc courses in Acupuncture, and three online-only MSc programmes for practitioners of Oriental Medicine, Complementary Medicine and Nutrition. Courses are validated by Middlesex University and accredited by relevant accreditation bodies.
We are seeking an experienced Nutrition Science and Practice tutor who will enjoy working with and motivating students at MSc level. The primary role is to support the current Principles of Nutrition Module Leader in delivery and development of our Principles of Nutrition module taught across year one of our MSc in Nutrition Science and Practice, taking an active role in marking and moderating. However, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, there will be the opportunity to get involved in other aspects and other modules of the teaching programme .
Assessments in this module include a case study, a dietary critique and Food Safety test.
NCA is committed to the ongoing development of tutors and offers support in undertaking the PG Certificate in Higher Education as well as other CPD opportunities.
Status: Self-employed, part-time
Hours: As required. The MSc programme runs from September/October to June with academic end of year activities in July and August. Courses are taught on Saturdays and Sundays, with the nutrition clinic currently operating on Mondays.
Attendance at meetings and marking/moderation are paid in addition to teaching fees.
Payment: £30,948.92 - £33,240.30 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience (equates to £16.53 - £17.16 per hour).
Location: Northern College of Acupuncture, 61 Micklegate, York and some home-working.
