Patient representative - Board of Directors

We’re looking for a patient or client to join us as a trustee of the charity that runs the College.

We are keen to have a trustee who is or has been a patient or client in any of our clinics, to represent the interests of our patients, clients and the general public.  This is an exciting time to join the existing board members as the NCA explores new avenues in the international arena with our online-only MScs, and maintains its excellent reputation as a small College with high academic and pastoral standards in the evolving Higher Education arena.

Trustees attend up to 6 three hour meetings of the Board of Directors/Trustees each year. The directors of the College are also its trustees as a registered charity.  Board meetings focus on the College’s future, generating ideas and plans, and also review current activities. Many of our trustees also give advice and guidance at other times and the patient representative attends a couple of sub-committee meetings.

What we are looking for is a willingness to engage in discussions about the activities and future of the College, bringing in your experience and perspective as a patient.

Trustees of the College are unpaid but we will pay your travel expenses.

Established in 1988, the Northern College of Acupuncture provides professional education for aspiring acupuncturists, nutritional therapists and Chinese herbal medicine practitioners.  We were the first teaching institution of any kind in the UK to offer a University degree in acupuncture, the first to offer a post-graduate degree in Chinese herbal medicine, and the first to achieve professional accreditation for our acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutritional therapy courses. We run three new degrees at master’s level, by distance learning.

Please contact Alison, the College Manager, for further details, e-mail: or phone: 01904 343300.
